[ARCHIVED] KCSO Responds to Downed Aircraft at CDA Airport

Coeur d'Alene, ID - On 10/11/19, at approximately 1652 hours, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Northern Lakes Fire/EMS, and Coeur d’Alene Airport personnel responded to an aircraft incident at the Coeur d’Alene Airport. Upon arrival, units contacted pilot Thomas Stotts, 51, of Spokane Washington. Stotts was transported for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Based on initial investigation, it appeared Stotts overturned his aircraft during the low level stages of take-off and impacted into a field off the runway still inside the airport. Though alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time, the investigation is ongoing regarding the exact circumstances of the crash. Due to aviation involvement the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and is conducting an investigation as well.

No other information is available at this time.
