[ARCHIVED] KCSO Resonds to ATV Crash in the National Forest

Magee, ID - On 9-01-2019, at around 11:20 a.m. the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Coeur d’Alene Fire and Rescue responded to the area of FSR 534 and FSR 911, near Cascade Saddle for a report of an ATV accident.  Deputies arrived on scene and learned that Jeffrey S. Sater, a 59 year old male from Sandpoint, was operating his ATV on FSR 534 when he lost control and rolled his machine on the side of the road.  Life Flight was dispatched and transported Sater to Kootenai Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time is appears that alcohol was not a factor in the accident and the rider was not wearing a helmet.  More information about this incident will be released as it becomes available.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind all those who plan on enjoying the backcountry area to do so responsibly. Also, it is recommended that drivers of all off road vehicles wear a helmet.
