[ARCHIVED] KCSO Marine Patrols Partners with the US Coast Guard

Coeur d’ Alene, ID - During this upcoming Fourth of July holiday week you might see some different patrol vessels on Coeur d’Alene Lake. For the second year in a row, the United States Coast Guard is sending over two patrol vessels and staff to help patrol Coeur d’Alene Lake during this holiday week.

Coeur d’Alene Lake is considered a federally regulated waterway which allows the Coast Guard to enforce federal laws on the water. The patrol units are stationed out of the Puget Sound near Seattle and do these types of patrols all over the inland northwest on federal waters.

Their focus will be commercial inspections and enforcement, as well as enforcing regular boating laws and Boating Under the Influence violations.

Last year there were several positive comments from the boating public and commercial operators on their presence on the lake and the Sheriff’s Office is looking forward to working with them again during this very busy week.

If you have any questions about boating laws please contact the Recreation Safety Section of the Sheriff’s Office at 208-446-2250 or at 208-446-1300
