Deputy Needs Assistance

Sheriff LOGO

A 35 year old Kootenai County Deputy Sheriff has recently suffered a stroke and needs assistance. Deputy Yvonne Cress and her husband welcomed the birth of their child 2 months ago. Deputy Yvonne Cress, a U.S. Navy Veteran, has been with the Sheriff’s Office for over six years. This past weekend Deputy Cress, while at home and off-duty, suffered a stroke.  The stroke resulted in paralysis to the entire right side of her body.   Deputy Cress is currently beginning her lengthy rehabilitation. Deputy Cress used her fringe benefit time for the birth of her child and has minimal time off in reserve and thus will be without pay and benefits in the near future.

Sheriff Norris stated “The Sheriff’s Office is a family and we will accompany the Cress Family on this journey. The Sheriff is confident that with the support of this community and organization, we can help Yvonne and her family through this difficult time.  I wish Yvonne a speedy recovery so she can enjoy her beautiful 2 month old baby girl.”

Sheriff Norris, along with the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, and in conjunction with the Kootenai County Sheriff Employees Association (KCSEA) are seeking the assistance of the public in gathering donations for Deputy Cress and her family to cover her medical expenses while she focuses on her physical recovery.  If you would like to make a donation, please make a check out to the “Kootenai County Sheriff Employees Association” or “KCSEA” and in the “Memo” line please enter “Deputy Cress”.  The check can be dropped off at or mailed to the Sheriff’s Office which is located at 5500 N Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID  83816-9000.  If you have any questions, please contact Deputy Nick Franssen (208) 446-1315 or (208) 916-8515.
