On August 18th, 2021 at approximately 6:00 PM, the Benewah County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of John Dalton walking in the City of St. Maries, Idaho. A Benewah County Sheriff Deputy arrived in the area and detained Dalton.
KCSO Detectives responded to the area of St. Maries to investigate further. With the assistance of the Benewah County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant for a nearby hotel was executed leading to the recovery of evidence of the crime. After conducting interviews, KCSO Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Dalton for the charge of murder. Dalton is being booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building for the charge of murder.

KCSO SEEKS PERSON OF INTEREST IN HOMICIDE
Spirit Lake, Idaho: On August 16, 2021 at approximately 7:00 PM, the Spirit Lake Police Department responded to the 4000 block of W. Delaware St. in the City of Spirit Lake, ID for a welfare check. Friends and family requested a check on Tina Swor, 56, due to not hearing from her for several days. Spirit lake Police Officers entered the unsecured residence and located Swor deceased inside the residence.
Spirit Lake Police requested the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Detective’s Division investigate the incident. Detectives arrived and initiated the investigation. The prelimnary investigation indicates foul play.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking the whereabouts of Swor’s long time boyfriend, John D. Dalton, 55 as a person of interest. Dalton is a white male approximately 6 feet tall and weighs 225 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes.
Dalton was last known to be driving a black 2002 Chevrolet Silverado with Idaho license plate 7BN3581.
Dalton should be considered armed and dangerous. If located, please call 911 or your local law enforcement agency.
