[ARCHIVED] KCSO Responds to Serious Injury Crash

Kootenai County, ID:  On 10/28/20, at approximately 4:10 PM, several Deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, along with the KCSO Traffic Team and Northern Lakes Fire responded to the intersection of Huetter Road and Orchard Avenue for an injury crash. 

A head-on collision was reported between a truck towing a trailered tug boat and a small passenger car at the intersection. The driver and sole occupant of the truck was unharmed. The operator of the passenger car was transported to Kootenai Health with severe injuries. He was last reported to be in critical condition. 

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Team along with the assistance of the Idaho State Police responded to investigate the incident. The investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

A power pole was damaged during the collision resulting in a small power outage in the area. Avista crews are currently on scene preparing to restore power. Huetter Road between Hayden Avenue and Prairie Avenue will be closed until crews can clear the roadway. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is requesting that people avoid the area until it can be reopened which is expected to take a few hours.

 The injured driver’s name is being withheld until family can be notified.
