Rathdrum, ID: On September 2nd at 4:30 pm, Kootenai County Deputies and Kootenai Fire and Rescue responded to a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Idaho Road and Burlington Road. It was initially reported that the sole occupant was not breathing and was trapped in the vehicle. As units responded, callers updated that the female driver was alert but still trapped in the vehicle.
When First Responders arrived on scene, the female driver was out of the vehicle and was walking around. The driver, and sole occupant, was identified as Jennifer L. Satko, a 41 year old female from Medical Lake Washington. Satko sustained some injuries as a result of the accident and was transported to KH with non-life threatening injuries.
During the investigation it was determined that Satko was driving a motor vehicle north bound on Idaho Road and failed to negotiate a curve in the road or stop for a stop sign. The vehicle crossed Burlington Road flipped and landed in the Burlington Re-Fueling Depot property. Other than a fence no structures were damaged. It appears that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Satko was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
