Kootenai County, ID: On Friday, June 26, 2020, at approximately 4:53 A.M., the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Worley Fire responded to the area of Loffs Bay Road and Mylonite Drive for a single vehicle injury accident. It was reported that a vehicle was found in the roadway cut into two pieces. The sole occupant, a 17 year-old male, was reported to be barely conscious.
Once on scene, deputies found the vehicle in two pieces and the driver outside the vehicle. He was transported to Kootenai Health for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigation Team was called to the scene to take over the investigation. Per their investigation, alcohol may be a factor and excessive speed is believed to have been a major contributor to the crash.
As of 8:30 A.M. the road was in the process of being opened up.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to drive safely while traveling this 4th of July Season. There are also extensive extra patrols throughout Kootenai County aimed at curbing aggressive and impaired driving surrounding the 4th of July celebrations.
