[ARCHIVED] KCSO Investigating Pedestrian Hit and Run

Hayden, ID - Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a pedestrian hit and run accident.

On Monday, December 9th, 2019, at about 4:50 pm, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Northern Lakes Fire and EMS responded to the intersection of N. Ramsey Rd. and W. Hayden Ave. for vehicle vs pedestrian, hit and run collision in the parking lot of a gas station.  On scene, emergency response personnel discovered Stephen C. Walson, 61, of Hayden had significant injuries and advised he had been struck by a vehicle. He was transported to Kootenai Health with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies were unable to locate any witnesses on scene who observed the actual collision, however the gas station was able to provide video surveillance of the incident. A dark colored over light colored small SUV was observed running over Walson. After the collision the SUV stopped then fled the scene.  Deputies searched the area and followed up on information, however the identity of the driver and the vehicle is unknown at this time.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for their assistance in identifying the vehicle or driver. If anyone was a witness or recognizes the vehicle they are asked to call the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office at 208-446-1300
