The Major Crimes Detectives conduct widely varied and specialized investigations. These include locating and apprehending criminals and fugitives, conducting surveillance operations, and investigating crimes involving imminent threat to the life of victims (such as murder, rape, kidnapping, child and elderly abuse, robbery, domestic battery, aggravated assaults and missing persons).
This division is also tasked with maintaining a database for Registered Sex Offenders (RSO) and monitoring the compliance of each offender, as mandated by Idaho Law.
The investigation of child abuse cases is highly specialized. Detectives assigned to this division are recognized as experts in the interviewing of child victims as well as adult suspects.
